Awaiting Lazarus
A homage to classic horror & exploitation.
A secret society with a keen interest in the occult gathers for one of its regular ceremonies. Its members are tricked into performing a forbidden ritual and unleash a dangerous spirit in the house. Each member struggles to survive the night, and unravel the traitor among them.
Awaiting Lazarus is inspired by some of the most interesting Hammer (& Hammer-like) horror I came across as a child. Particularly those with the classic themes of witches, devil worship, vampires, demons, eccentric characters. The whole fun package. It’s even inspired by more unusual films like: The Witches (1966), Twins of Evil (1971).. Even one of my favourite films of the recent decade Ti West’s House of the Devil (2009).
was my final project, before graduating from The London Film School. We had a very strict window to come up with a project, and turn in the final product. It was quite challenging, since I wrote and got the production started within 2 months. My team and I shot the film in about 5 days.
